Tackling anti social behaviour

Anti social behaviour causes huge problems for local communities and there are on going problems at Bagillt, particularly near the school....but ASBOS are not the way to deal with it. ASBOS criminalise young people from an early age bringing them into the court system early - with the risk that "familiarity breeds contempt". Community Warden centres such as that in Greenfield can act as a bridge between residents concerned at garaffitti drunkeness and other anti social behaviour. The wardens at Greenfield carry out residents surveys once they receive complaints and then go into an area to disperse groups and can give advicd to local residents and act as a deterrent. At the moment Greenfield has 8 wardens which cover the whole of Flintshire, this means they are stretched in the cover they can give. They also act as a back up for victims of domestic violence. They can come in and provide alarms and security for a safe room after the police have left, these are practical measures which give enormous help to frightened victims. We need more community wardens like this in Flintshire...if you need to contact Greenfield community wardens call 01352701818
