Go Green with Flintshire Conservatives

Flintshire CC currently recycles less than 27% of its domestic waste. The paper plant at Shotton states that it is currently receiving more paper from England and Scotland than it is from Wales - this is an example of how Labour have failed to impliment joined up policies. At a recent event Shotton made a plea for more of our paper waste. Our manifesto will require Councils to recycle 40% by 2011. Our manifesto also has clear commitments to micro generation and renewables, with grant support. Unnecessary Supermarket packaging is going to be tackled with a statutory code if necessary - but the real action will come from you. When you are shopping for groceries check the country of origin, support Welsh and British farmers by buying food which has travelled limited food miles rather than being flown from around the world. Mold and Northop Welsh College of Horticulture have a number of farmers markets with fantastic local produce, and support Mold Market every Wednesday.

Take the chance to volunteer to clean up the Dee Estuary, this estuary is an outstanding wetland site for birds and recognised all over the world as part of the RAMSAR treaty. I am looking for volunteers to join me on 14th September to help at this event. Please Vote blue and go green - and call the office to join the team of volunteers for the 14th September on 01352 710 232.
