Agriculture also being hit by rising prices

Its not just the weather which has been affecting Agriculture in Flintshire this year. Apart from the success of Royal Welsh Show week current world prices are also affecting farmers.

The Flint and Denbigh Show was a showcase once again for the best in Flintshire farming, and Antoinette Sandbach was delighted to attend. There was a lively debate held by the FUW which included a panel of speakers from all political parties, apart from Labour who failed to send any representative to answer questions from concerned farmers.

Whilst the shops are reflecting higher agricultural prices, the cost of fertilizer and feed is affecting farmers margins and all sectors of the industry are also feeling the pressure of higher fuel costs.

Antoinette Sandbach said "I have been able to talk to farmers at the Flint and Denbigh show, Cilcan show and Rhydymywn show, all have expressed concern at the Government's failure to tackle increasing regulation and rising costs. There is a simple step which the Government could take which would help farmers, the Conservative 'Fair Fuel Stabliser' would reduce fuel costs by 5 pence a litre. This would not only help farmers, but all of us facing higher bills this winter."
