Pensioners angry as they are let down by Brown
Angry Pensioners are outraged that the help promised additional help is to be limited to those on pension credit. Many pensioners do not claim pension credit, because of the complicated forms and the intrusive questions.Mrs Harrison a Flintshire Pensioner said "I am so angry with Gordon Brown, you see him on the television spouting all these promises. I live in an apartment and I can't put insulation in the roof. I have asked whether I will qualify for additional help, but because I have worked hard and saved responsibly I am now being punished. I have heard lots of people saying we might as well spend our savings and get the Government to pay. I am being taxed on my private pension, which is not much. I am totally fed up."
Antoinette Sandbach, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate said
"Mrs Harrison is by no means alone, anyone who has saved is seeing their savings eroded by inflation and rising prices. Ordinary hard working people are having to pay for years of Government waste. It means that there is nothing left in the cupboard to help now that times are tough. The Conservatives have announced that those on low incomes could pay for fuel bills through their Post Office Card Account. This could cut the fuel bills for 4 million people by up to £100 a year. It is time that the Government introduced common sense policies that will help all of us cope in these difficult times".
