Higher Council tax in North Wales because police funding going South

The Chief Constable of North Wales today explained to Community and Town Councillors that Council Tax would have to rise because North Wales was receiving lower funding than the Valleys in South Wales, or 120 Police jobs would be cut. Richard Brumstrom said "The government's funding formula is not fit for purpose in Wales"

The figures speak for themselves. North Wales gets £111.25 per person South Wales £138.67 a difference of over £27.00. Yet South Wales only spends £5.65 more than North Wales police - so where does the difference go - yes you guessed it on lower Council Taxes in South Wales. If North Wales received the average of £122 per person this would result in an extra £7.3 million pounds which would mean more policing instead of the cuts in service we are facing in Flintshire.

Antoinette Sandbach who went to the meeting said "This is yet another example of the way the Labour Government both in Wales and in Parliament favours South Wales at the expense of North Wales. We are fed up with it. It shows the hollow promises made in the Queens Speech today - the tired Labour government is not serious about tackling crime in our communities - when will the Government realise people are fed up with Labour's failure to deliver - it is action on the ground that tackles crime - not more legislation."

I will be actively campaigning for a fairer deal for North Wales - the people of wales have their chance to make their voices heard it is time Rhodri Morgan and his cohorts were kicked out, if they arent make no mistake about it - everyone in North Wales will pay more - and get less.
