Holway Estate has visit from Shadow Housing Minister

Grant Shapps MP Shadow Housing Minister visited the Holway Estate with Antoinette Sandbach. They met local mothers to discuss the impact of poor quality housing on their families. Having chatted to local mums, Antoinette and Grant were taken to see houses on the estate. Grant Shapps MP described the state of the housing as "the worst he had seen in England and Wales". As a result of the trip Antoinette, together with local conservatives, has delivered a housing survey to all the residents on the estate.

Local conservative Councillors will be given details of the results of the survey in the hope that the backlog of repairs after 14 years of Labour mismanagement will start to be tackled.

Antoinette said "The independent Councillor who heads the Housing Committee has warned that the poor budget settlement from Labour's Assembly Government will dramatically affect the ability of the Council to tackle repairs. However it is unacceptable in this day and age that residents are having to pay rent for housing which is clearly substandard."
