Historic Win in A&D

Last night's results in the European Elections marked an historic breakthrough for the Conservatives in Alyn and Deeside. Dramatically increasing their share of the vote, the Conservatives knocked Labour into second place, by a margin of more than 700 votes. This is the first time Labour have been beaten in Alyn and Deeside since the constituency was formed in 1983.

Conservative Parliamentary candidate, Will Gallagher, said...

'I want to thank everyone who came out to vote Conservative in the European Elections last Thursday. By topping the poll in Alyn and Deeside, the Conservatives have shown that change really can happen as soon as the General Election comes. There is now nothing inevitable about a Labour victory in our local area – but only if those who believe things are heading in the wrong direction join our campaign for change, and support the one party that is seriously challenging Labour here.

Politicians have had a rough ride recently, and they’ve deserved it. They’ve become out of touch and forgotten that they work for those who elect them. Reform is vital – but above all else, politicians have got to reconnect with local people – and that is why the Conservatives are now asking people to get involved in our campaign in Alyn and Deeside, to influence our agenda, and improve the quality of life for everyone in Flintshire.'
