Flint cottage hospital

Hundreds of protesters went to the Senedd in Cardiff this week to express their disgust at the Labour Welsh Assembly Government's community hospital closures. Antoinette Sandbach travelled down from Flint to add her voice to the many there calling for their community hospitals to remain open.

Antoinette said "The hundreds of people there made it clear they will not stand for Labour's attempts to blame their policies on the Local Health Board - it is Labour's policy which dictates that Community hospitals of less than 30 beds are not viable - not the local health board policy. I was shocked that Sandy Mewies was not there to voice the concerns of Flint residents and show her support for other community hospitals facing the same fate. CHANT - Community Hospitals Acting Nationally Together is a cross party organisation in England with support from all the political parties. Apparently not in Wales with not a single Labour AM standing up for their local community hospitals and joining the protestors."

Dr Brian Gibbons and Sandy Mewies may want to call in the "consultations" to avoid the closure announcements before the May elections but this is typical Labour - ducking out of difficult questions and seeking to pull the wool over the eyes of the electorate. They have known about this for months and months - even before the go ahead was given for the New Holywell Hospital. Sandy Mewies has voted with her party on every single health issue.....which has created this situation in the first place. Meanwhile the fight goes on across Wales.
