A&D ASSOCIATION
The Alyn & Deeside Constituency is a diverse area ranging from the more rural areas of Llanfynydd and Hope near Wrexham at the south-east end of the county, through areas like Penyffordd and Kinnerton through Hawarden and over to the bigger towns of Buckley and Connah's Quay which neighbours the Delyn constituency. The constituency has a history of manufacturing industry ranging from bricks to aerospace with the latter remaining as the major private employer.
The Conservative Party is the main opposition to the ruling Labour party in this parliamentary constituency. We made strong gains in the 2003 Assembly elections when the Labour majority was halved by the then candidate Matt Wright and we maintained our position in the 2005 General Election. Since the election of David Cameron to the leadership of the Party we have gained further support.
The Association has an Executive made up of officers elected by the members. This Executive oversees the running of the Association and its aim is to further the aims of the Party in Alyn & Deeside. At the head of the Executive is a Chairman who is currently Mrs Diana Williams. Each Executive sends 2 officers to the Area Council. The Area Council elect an Area Management Executive which represents the rank and file members and oversees the activities of the Party in North Wales.
The Association welcomes membership from all and in addition to campaigning runs social events. All events are listed in the Events page for Flintshire.
